Braun BT9440 | My Short Review
In general Braun BT9440 is a well equipped beard trimmer, but a bit pricey for what you get

Below I give my honest review of the Braun BT9440 beard trimmer. I say only my own opinions, my review is not sponsored (I have bought the trimmer for my own money).
I hope the information below will help you decide if this trimmer is a good option for you or not.

This is what you'll find in the box

In my opinion the Braun BT9440 is a pretty well equipped beard trimmer, but a bit pricey.

I would say that the only advantage it has over Braun beard trimmer from Series 7 is this wide T-blade. It has almost zero-gapped blades, which means it cuts much closer to the skin compared to the “standard” (not zero-gapped) blades.

Its biggest drawback is this length dial lock - if you forget to activate it and push a bit more on the guard - it will change the setting. This should not happen in high end beard trimmers.

Braun BT9440 | The Ergonomy

I really like the sleek design in the Braun BT9440 | Front panel, on/off button and the 3-level charging indicator

I would say all Braun beard trimmers in general offers pretty decent ergonomy.

  • well shaped handle that nicely fits in the hand
  • quite low vibration and noise levels
  • good craftmanship of the trimmer itself and the accessories
Good ergonomics as in all Braun beard trimmers

The Blades

Stainless steel blades
The blade works with 6 guards
  • There are three different blades in this kit.
  • The standard one works well with all guards.
The T-blade shaves noticeably closer to the skin compared to the main blade
The T-blade is almost zero-gapped, meaning the cutting blade edge is moved very closely to the edge of the still blade
  • The wider T-blade has no guards, but it gives you a pretty decent shave.
Of course it will not be a shave smooth like what you get with a hybrid trimmer/shaver (like Philips OneBlade or Remington OmniBlade).
Width of both blades compared. You can also notice narrower blade teeth in the T-blade
The narrow blade will be perfect for beard details and possibly for removing the nose and ear hairs
  • There’s also a narrow blade for shaping beard details and maybe removing those annoying whiskers from nose and ears.
Braun BT9440 | Front of the narrow blade
  • All three blades are stainless steel, self-sharpening and they need oiling.

Braun BT9440 | Length Settings

The adjustable guard for stubble...
... and shorter beard
Shorter guard lets you set the lengths from 0,5 mm up to 10 mm
  • There are six guards altogether in the Braun BT9440 kit.
Four guards for fading and two adjustable ones for beard (hair?).
  • First comb for stubble and short beard lets us set proffered length in the range between 0,5 and 10 mm.
The adjustable guard for longer beard (and hair?)
You can set the cutting length in the followin range: 10,5 - 20 mm
Works good on beard. I did not tried it on hair 😄
  • The second one (for longer beard) has settings from 10,5 mm up to 20 mm.
  • The guards work fine, no problem with guards.
There are 4 fading guards in this set. Here we have those "shorter" ones: 1-5-1 mm
And here comes the longer ones: 5-9-5 mm

The Lock...

The length settings lock is working but... you have to remember to switch it on each time... otherwise you can mess up your beard style badly...

The only concern I have as for adjustable guards is the lock you can find on the trimmer itself.
So let’s say you want a length of 5 mm.
You set the length.
You activate the lock.
You turn on the machine.
And…
Everything works just fine.
Even when pressing a little harder on the guard, your setting remains firm.

So what’s my problem, right?

The problem starts the moment you forget to activate the lock.
It is a matter of time.

One day, let’s say you’re in a hurry.
You set the length.
Turn on the machine.
Start rimming.
And…
WHOOPSIE !!!
Why did the guard change the length when I pressed a bit harder?
???
Now I have a “hole” in my beard…
Great…

And this is my only concern about the length settings in Braun BT9440.

Braun BT9440 | Accessories

The travel case is well made, unfortunately you can fit only the trimmer inside
A closer look at the travel case
Travel case... again 😄 Well, good quality, I like it
  • There are some other accessories in this kit
  • I really like the quality and the craftsmanship of the hard travel case
  • Unfortunately it can house only the trimmer alone... what a pity...
Stencil for shaping even beard lines on both cheeks
Some instructions on how to use the stencilII
There is also a nice heavy charging stand, so you can conveniently put the trimmer in one place and keep it always fully charged
