Braun XT5200 | My Honest Review
Braun XT5200 is a decent hybrid trimmer/shaver for stubble as well as for shaving body hair
Here's what you get in the Braun XT5200 hybrid trimmer set

Below I give my honest review of the Braun XT5200 hybrid trimmer. I say only my own opinions, my review is not sponsored (I have bought the trimmer for my own money).

I hope the information below will help you decide if this trimmer is a good option for you or not.

Braun XT5200 | Ergonomy

The middle black part of the handle is covered with rubber. The grip is firm, even the handle is wet.

In the first place, we must realize that this model is a hybrid trimmer.

This means it is compact.

Philips OneBlade Pro QP6530 vs Braun XT5200

So if you have used a regular beard trimmer so far, you will have to get used to the smaller size.

I like working with the Braun XT5200.

Remington Omniblade HG5000 vs Braun XT5200

Great part of the handle is covered with some kind of rubber.

Thanks to this the grip is firm and the trimmer is not slipping even in the wet hand.

Rowenta Forever Sharp TN6030 vs Braun XT5200

The noise and vibration levels are fine for me, so no problem with that.

Finally the trimmer is 100% waterproof, so you can use it even in the shower.

Length Settings

Four simple plastic guards for stubble: 1,2,3 and 5 mm

Braun XT5200 comes with a variety of combs for stubble and also safe body shaving.

First we have four very simple, plastic guards for stubble.

Beard guards are holding pretty tight on the blade

Some would say they’re flimsy.

The lengths? 1,2,3 and 5 mm.

Here no. 1 guard on the blade

The guards sit quite firm on the blade, so no problem for me.

Then we have these two grey guards for body shaving.

One of them is 3 mm and could be used on most sensitive parts.

I would call the other one as a “0” guard, because it only prevents the loose skin from getting directly to the cutting blade.

Braun XT5200 | The Blade

Braun claims the blade should last up to 6 months

In general I like the hybrid blade in the Braun XT5200.

On my medium thick beard I get a nice shave, very similar to what I have achieved with the Philips OneBlade.

Braun XT5200: the back side of the hybrid blade

There’s only one issue I have got while shaving with Braun XT Series shavers.

Namely - if I moved the blade on my skin too fast, sometimes I got unpleasant and a bit painful snags.

Braun XT5200: blade detail

Meaning the blade instead of cutting the hairs off, it pulled them…

So be aware of this issue and make sure you shave slowly.

If you twist the shaving head...

Simply give the blades time to do their job.

Lastly, the blades last much longer compared to Philips OneBlades.

... you can take it off and maybe replace with a new one

According to the manufacturer, Braun XT Series blades will stay sharp up to 6 months.

Regular oiling is required.

If you are looking for a hybrid trimmer/shaver with long lasting blades, you can check models from Remington Omniblade or Rowenta Forever Sharp.
