Philips BT5502/15 - quite simple set, no unecessary bells and whistles

Below I give my honest review of the Philips BT5502/15 beard trimmer. I say only my own opinions, my review is not sponsored (I have bought the trimmer for my own money).

The handle is slightly bent, I liked working with the Philips BT5502/15

I hope the information below will help you decide if this trimmer is a good option for you or not.

The Philips BT5502/15 is in my opinion one of these “standard beard trimmers” for beards of  any length.

Philips BT5502/15 vs Braun BT9440

True, it is a bit bigger than many beard trimmers out there, but not a problem for me.

Philips BT5502/15 | The Ergonomics

In general I consider Philips BT5502/15 as a good trimmer for stubble, short and even a bit longer beard

As I have said above, the Philips BT5502/15 is a bit bigger than most of the beard trimmers on the market.

I didn't find it a drawback, working with the trimmer was easy.

The settings dial is available also rom the other side - handy

Also noise and vibrations levels are fine.

The handle is made of plastic, but the grip is ok thanks to the matt finish of the plastic.

As for waterproof levels you can rinse under the tap the whole unit.

Length Settings

The numbers on the dial are quite small

I love all kinds of dials in the form of those length setting “wheels”.

Here we have a similar dial covered with rubber. This makes choosing your preferred setting fast, precise and easy in general.

Thanks to this "wheel" dial setting your preferred length is qick, precise, very convenient

There are 2 adjustable guards.

Philips BT5502/15 - stubble and short beard adjustable guard
Shorter guard - lengths from 0,4 mm to 10 mm

The first one is for a stubble and short beard up to 10 mm.

The lengths are nicely marked on the back side of the guard

The second one has a maximal length set to 20 mm.

The guard for longer beard
The second adjustable guard lets you set trimming length in the following range: 10,4 - 20 mm

Both work great for me and I have no problems trimming my medium thick beard with these guards at all.

Philips BT5502/15 | The Blade

Philips BT5502/15 - stainless steel blades

This trimmer is equipped with a stainless steel blade.

It is self-sharpening.

Selfsharpening blades. Philips claims they do not have to be lubricated

The manufacturer claims there’s no need for oiling the blades.

In my opinion it could be true in the first stage of using the trimmer.

This is how you detach the blades

After several weeks I would definitely oil the blades.

Here you can read my view on oiling the blades of Philips trimmers and clippers.

Now you can clean the blades much better
