Besides the charging cord and a very simple travel pouch you’ll also get a simple beard brush. The body of the trimmer is ergonomically curved, it fits nicely in the hand - There is a rubber-covered area where you normally place your thumb when holding the trimmer - this additionally makes the grip firm and prevents the trimmer from slipping out of your hand ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/f3/d0/f3d01ea9-4d8a-4f6d-a60c-367fb5cd95e6/content/images/2025/02/remington-mb5001-04.jpg) The back side of the handle is made of plastic with a matt finish - In my opinion the vibrations and noise levels during operation are ok (for me) - there are many beard trimmers that are much louder and generate higher (unpleasant) vibrations ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/f3/d0/f3d01ea9-4d8a-4f6d-a60c-367fb5cd95e6/content/images/2025/02/remington-mb5001-05.jpg) The upper part of the front panel is covered with rubber which makes the grip firm - The Remington MB5001 weighs 165 grams (approx. 5.82 oz), which is just fine - not too heavy, not too light - It is important to mention that the trimmer itself is not waterproof - you can rinse under the water only the adjustable comb and the detachable head (with blades on it) ## Length settings ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/f3/d0/f3d01ea9-4d8a-4f6d-a60c-367fb5cd95e6/content/images/2025/02/remington-mb5001-06.jpg) You can set your preferred cutting length with a convenient wheel that has a rubberized surface - The maximal length setting you can set with the adjustable comb is 18 millimeters (0.7 inches) - in my opinion the comb works just fine on the beard approx. 10-12 mm long - on longer beards the efficiency of cutting is much lower, because the hears (which are never straight, but rather wavy) have trouble to get into the gaps between comb’s teeth ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/f3/d0/f3d01ea9-4d8a-4f6d-a60c-367fb5cd95e6/content/images/2025/02/remington-mb5001-17.jpg) Here is the maximal length (18 mm) that can be set in Remington MB5001 - I like the length setting system used in the Remington MB5001 - we have 1 adjustable comb and the trimmer has a built-in wheel that lets you set the cutting length - this way you can pick your preferred length quickly and precisely - which is very convenient - The Remington MB5001 offers 17 length settings in total - In millimeters: 0,4 - 1 - 1,5 - 2 - 2,5 - 3 - 3,5 - 4 - 4,5 - 5 - 6 - 8 - 10 - 12 - 14 - 16 - 18 - I like the fact, that in lower settings the leap between the lengths is 0,5 mm and above 6 mm setting we have a 2 mm gap (possibly you would prefer more accurate settings) CONS: - The color of the digits on the setting wheel is black on the dark blue background - The digits are small - Both of the above mentioned features makes it quite difficult to quickly read the actual length, especially under worse light conditions - Moreover in higher length settings the comb is wobbly, meaning it doesn’t hold firmly on the blade, which in my opinion can be a bit frustrating for some ## Remington MB5001 | The blades ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/f3/d0/f3d01ea9-4d8a-4f6d-a60c-367fb5cd95e6/content/images/2025/02/remington-mb5001-10.jpg) The moving blade in Remington MB5001 is covered with titanium - In terms of the battery and the powering in general I would say the Remington MB5001 is not a superhero, but considering the price it’s quite fine - The fully charged device will run for about 60 minutes - The charging time is 2 hours - For me the most important feature is the ability to operate in the cordless as well as the corded mode - you will never end up with the half-way trimmed beard and a dead battery ## What else? ![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/f3/d0/f3d01ea9-4d8a-4f6d-a60c-367fb5cd95e6/content/images/2025/02/remington-mb5001-24.jpg) - In my opinion the Remington MB5001 is a “good” trimmer for shorter beard - Personally I don’t like the beard brush - the 100 % nylon bristles have quite pointy ends - brushing my beard was a bit painful (maybe I have too sensitive skin?) - I really like the ergonomics, the shape of the trimmer itself, it fits in the hand quite nicely - Not too loud, vibrations during operation on a good level (not unpleasant like in some cheap models) -
